What information should you not send to AI?

2026-10-011 min read

AI is convenient, but don't treat it as a private space to confide in. Avoid entering:

  • ID numbers, bank card numbers, passwords and verification codes.
  • Unpublished business secrets, customer data, original contracts.
  • Other people's private information (name plus phone plus address).

Safer habits

  • When handling sensitive documents, replace names, amounts and company names with placeholders first.
  • Check settings for options such as “use my conversations to train models” (location differs by product).
  • Each AI service has its own data policy; read the official privacy notes before important uses.
