Practical Claude tips
These tips all work with normal use; feature names follow the current official interface.
1. Give background first, then the request
“I run a cross-border store and need a casual social post for a new product, under 100 words” beats “write some copy”.
2. Upload long documents directly
Contracts, reports and papers can be uploaded; ask for key points, risks and cross-checks. Still verify important content against the original.
3. Use Projects to keep background
Put the same kind of work (a client, a topic) in one project; write materials and requirements once and later chats carry them.
4. Ask for structured output
Tell it the format: “as a table”, “three points, two sentences each”, “conclusion first, then reasons”.
5. Let it ask questions first
When the request is unclear, say “if you need more information, ask me a few questions before you start”.
6. Follow up step by step
Perfect in one go is unrealistic: outline first, then expand section by section; draft first, then revise with your feedback.
Don't forget
- It can be wrong — verify specific data and legal provisions.
- Don't enter passwords, keys or private customer data.
