Getting started with Cursor Pro
Cursor is a code editor with built-in AI. After Cursor Pro is activated, start in this order. Shortcuts and menu names follow what the software shows.
Install and log in
- Download and install the version for your system from the official Cursor website.
- On first launch, log in as prompted (top-up: your own account; ready-made account: the details support gave you).
- Check the current subscription in settings or the account page and confirm it is Pro.
Open a project
Use “Open Folder” to open your project directory. Cursor reads the project so the AI can answer with project context.
Three common ways to use it
- Code completion: suggestions appear as you type; accept them with the prompted key.
- Chat: open the chat panel and ask about the selected code or the whole project, e.g. “what does this code do”, “why does this error occur”.
- Have it edit code: use the edit or agent-type features, describe the change you want, review the proposed changes and apply them after confirming.
Tips
- Be specific: goal, scope, expected result.
- Review the diff before accepting changes.
- Save a clean state in Git first so you can roll back.
- Never put keys or passwords in prompts.
About the warranty
Cursor Pro has a subscription warranty: if the subscription fails during the warranty period we fix it or refund the remaining days — see the “Warranty” section on the product page.
